NAMI Wake, Wake County Human Services, and community mental health
providers are partnering to offer peer-led support groups for people who are
experiencing mild to moderate depression and stress.   A support group is a
group of people with similar problems or concerns who meet regularly to
discuss their problems and support one another by demonstrating
understanding and empathy because of shared experiences.

The groups will offer a setting in which persons facing difficulties have a safe
place near their communities to voice their concerns and explore options for
making positive changes in their lives.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may be interested in
attending one of these groups.

•        Persistent sad, anxious or "empty" feelings
•        Feelings of pessimism
•        Feelings of guilt, worthlessness and/or helplessness
•        Irritability, restlessness
•        Loss of interest in activities or hobbies once pleasurable, including sex
•        Fatigue and decreased energy
•        Difficulty concentrating, remembering details and making decisions
•        Insomnia, early–morning wakefulness, or excessive sleeping
•        Overeating, or appetite loss
•        Persistent aches or pains, headaches, cramps or digestive problems
that do not ease even with treatment

If your symptoms are severe or if you have thoughts of suicide, you should
contact your mental health provider or Alliance Behavioral Health on (800)
510-9132.  If you are in need of emergency assistance, call 911.
