Join the NAMI Wake County Advocacy Committee
There will be two opportunities to learn about and develop our advocacy policy for this year. Both meetings will occur at the Highland United Methodist Church Conference Room, 1901 Ridge Road, Raleigh. The first meeting will be Thursday, February 16th, starting at 7:00 p.m. The second meeting will be Saturday, February 18th, starting at 1 p.m. We want our members and friends to have a strong message to send to our elected representatives as they develop the policies and allocate funds for those needing mental health services.

NAMI Wake County is launching a new initiative to reach more people interested in helping NAMI advocate for important issues locally, and at the state and national level. We hope that by having these virtual meetings, we will provide a convenient forum for people to participate.
You can join us from any location that has a device with a mic and speakers. That includes most laptops, ipads and smart phones. You might want to check your desktop to make sure you have speakers and a microphone. If not, you have the option to use the web link to launch GoToTraining to see the audio visuals as you also dial in with your phone to hear the sound.
Register early! We can only accommodate 25 people in each session.

This session is designed to help you understand the cuts the NC Legislature made to state funds for services for mental health, substance abuse and intellectual/developmental disability funding during the last session. The purpose is to provide a knowledge base to help YOU advocate to restore the funding during the upcoming session of the NC Legislature.
